Abstract

Adolescence is a crucial transitional phase in an individual's life, where the search for self-identity and the recognition of personal potential becomes fundamental processes in shaping life direction. However, in reality, many adolescents still experience confusion in recognizing their strengths and future directions, which results in inappropriate study and career choices. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of self-potential development training based on an experiential learning approach with the SWAN (Strength, Weakness, Ambition, Needs) technique on improving self-concept understanding and future planning in adolescents. Using a quantitative pre-experimental one group pre-test and post-test design, 25 high school students participated in a series of trainings that included interactive lectures, self-assessments, video reflections, group discussions, and case presentations. The evaluation instruments, in the form of pre-test and post-test questionnaires, were analyzed using paired sample t-tests, and supplemented with qualitative evaluation through participant reviews and facilitator observations. The results showed a significant increase in participants' understanding of self-potential, as well as the emergence of self-confidence and a more structured life direction. Qualitatively, participants also demonstrated active participation, in-depth reflection, and increased self-awareness. This training has proven effective in helping adolescents develop a more holistic sense of self and build a strong psychological foundation for facing the demands of adulthood. Therefore, this experiential learning-based self-potential training program is a relevant and applicable educational strategy to be integrated into Indonesia's secondary education system.
